Talking about #xz: We are not creating the amount of C programmers by far that’s necessary to maintain all the garbage that’s out there.
I could write it if pushed (or paid) but what’s the point if the result is going to be fundamentally insecure anyway. Who is even coming into C programming these days?

I don't think anyone has learned C for fun, ever.
