Arrived in Copenhagen after a completely uneventful journey from Stockholm with train 525. Exactly as scheduled. Travelled in first class, as one tends to do, and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. (The SJ lounge at Stockholm C was closed for religious reasons today and would have opened anyway only at 10:00 on Sundays.) Thank you, SJ, Trafikverket, and Banedanmark. Now I have almost two hours to spend before taking the train to Hamburg.

A bowl of duck ramen at the Tivoli Food Hall (outside Tivoli proper, so no entrance ticket required). I have had tastier ramen, the broth was a bit bland in taste.

I know some of my followers love to hate these old DB IC carriages that uses for now between Copenhagen and Hamburg, but the ride is very smooth and silent at 200 km/h. Even in the 1st class carriage that allegedly should be worse than the 2nd class ones, if I recall correctly.

A screenshot of a navigation app displaying a speed of 201.2 km/h.
Interior of a 1st class compartment with six comfortable leather seats with ample headrests.

Also the journey with EC 399 to Hamburg was uneventful. And we arrived five minutes ahead of schedule. One would have made it to the Nightjet for Wien and Innsbruck departing at 20:10 even.

Cabin hotel CAB20. Booked a double “room” for a bit more space. Clean and functional, as expected, but still, not sure I will use such again. Will know after a couple of nights here. Good internet.

The capsule has built-in Bluetooth speakers. The round ones in the corners. Not very good sound quality.

@tml How is the sound insulation? That’s what I’m worried most about with these things.

@partim You hear doors closing and people walking in the hallway but not in any disturbing degree. The person(s) in the capsule below were either very quiet, or it was empty, or then the insulation is indeed good. Impossible to say based on a sample of two nights.

@tml@urbanists.social avatar

@partim But yeah, the double capsule is just about enough for one person. I wouldn’t want to share one, even with my closest and dearest.

@partim The area you walk through between the station and the capsule hotel is kinda rough. Lots of people just standing around looking tentatively at you as a potential customer, for various forms of recreation. And homeless people sleeping in corners. But if you don’t disturb them they won’t disturb you. I assume.

@tml I guess it is out the back where the stairs to the S-Bahn and the bus stops are?

tml,
@tml@urbanists.social avatar

@partim Yes, and the blocks to the east of that.

@tml Yeah, that’s a rough area. I once stayed at the Atlantic down by the river. Felt pretty apt to have to go through this sort of area en route to a five star hotel.
