Loves trains – both using them and understanding operation and engineering.

Apropos of nothing, Dutch Wikipedia has a really cool picture of the Dutch twin contact wires.
English is really missing a good translation for the Dutch word storing 😏
Did NS change their rules for drivers listening to music or podcasts or why does this happen a lot all of a sudden? Bit annoying, what with my preferred seat being right behind the cab.
I just trawled various NS websites for half an hour to find a way to contact them by email (or webform).
Can we, as a society, please accept that there is a large number of people for whom having to call someone is about the Worst Thing Ever? And no, chatbots are even worse.
DFDS (which leaves earlier and goes to a city) is twice as expensive as Stena on a Friday night while they are about the same during the week. Good indiction which one to avoid, I suppose.
Sure, re-charge your battery by letting the car idle outside for an hour why don’t you.
Petrol is still way too cheap.
I wish there were an option to add extra days to your Interrail flex pass as you go. Like, buy the four day one and then add more days as needed.
I think it might be time to get an Interrail and feck off for a week.
Ja, schade, die Bnetza mag auch keine weiteren Informationen geben darüber, was ein Smartmeter können muss. Das Antwortschreiben auf meine Anfrage vor drei Wochen geht in keinem Punkt auf meine konkreten Fragen ein.
@ril100 Heidelberg Pfaffengrund-Wieblingen?
Most long-distance services on the East Coast Main Line #ECML 🇬🇧 from #London King’s Cross are being worked by #LNER #Azuma trainsets. Today’s 1703 service to #Leeds however saw an #InterCity225 leaving from platform 2, hauled by a class 91 electric - 91107 “Skyfall”.
And yes, I know, pltf. 2 not the most famous one here at #KGX.
That’s what I get for having defended NS today.
Is it going left or right? 😉
Finally watched “Top Gun: Maverick.” Can’t help but feel it needs “Hot Shots! Topper” for perspective.
Today’s top tip: Before disassembling your means of going to the hardware store, check that you have all the tools you need to put it back together.
Heavy rail trains with bells will always be weird to me. Trams have bells and maybe little steam tiddlers.
I started doing this in Berlin back when I lived there, but I couldn’t be arsed to keep track: https://youtu.be/5Vz3bALCJAs?si=pAeiOFdfWji9_BDf
This is the thing I most miss about living in a big city: When you feel down or sad or lost, you can always just go on a silly trip that gets you somewhere interesting you’ve never been before.
I have walked all the routes of all the U-bahn lines in Berlin and, honestly, it was the best therapy I could ever have had.
