It's not at all a matter of intelligence, it's a matter of checking out from news in general, political news in particular.

If you are a regular consumer of political news you can be sure that you know many things the vast majority of people are ignorant of. And, it's your/our civic duty to, gently, pass key pieces of that information to people around you.

Then why would you write what you know isn't true?

I guess I could have gone to your profile and reviewed your posts to determine your level of knowledge of politics before replying to what you wrote as if it were what you believed to be true, but then I would never stop scrolling, and that's probably not going to work.

I assumed that your statement was what you believed to be true.

If it isn't and you know what you wrote is not true, why did you write it?

More importantly, there are definitely people out there who do think what you wrote is true, and I was writing for them as much as in response to you.
