@meganL Where would you put disabled cyclists in Geller's typology? Interested-concerned? Or would they have their own category? I'm thinking about how to rate routes for each type.

@benfulton @meganL I think the "interested but concerned" category is more psychological than physical. The "strong and fearless" aren't really fearless, and e-bikes can provide the strength to climb hills or ride faster -- this category just meant you were willing to rub elbows with cars/occupy the full lane and get honked at, which doesn't exclude all disabilities but it's tough to mix in traffic with a trike. But we should be building routes for everyone not rating some as black diamond etc.

@benfulton @meganL unfortunately many people might see themselves in the "no way, no how" category because of a disability and lack of options for adaptive bike/trike equipment to make rolling at bike speeds practical. We have an adaptive rental program (with subsidies) to make it easy for people to try various trikes in a low stress path along the river. The number of "interested but concerned" was supposed to inform politicians that most people would actually use bikes if we had decent infra

@enobacon @meganL Black Diamond, I like that. But "should be" is a lot different from "are" and when I look at city bike route maps there are a lot of them that I wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't pretty darned strong and fearless.

@benfulton @meganL I would rate them by Level of Traffic Stress, since that's more descriptive of the infrastructure situation, and leave the (self-selected) psychological categories to their more useful context in the political argument.

@benfulton @meganL also LTS can be assigned per intersection or segment (possibly depends on if you need to turn left vs ride past turning right, at e.g. a big intersection.) Analysis of a route or trip then is basically "what's the max stress level encountered and is that below a user's tolerance?" Most trips are a "no" for most people biking for one or two "barrier" intersections or segments. Trike-specific LTS might include slightly different factors, but prob just changes the 3-5
