Now that the App Store has opened its door to emulators, you might start to see some of the virtual arcade rooms come to visionOS, officially sanctioned. Combined with SharePlay & spatial personas, that could be a real interesting social space
@stroughtonsmith you could have emulators before, right? It’s just that the ROMs had to be bundled rather than downloaded.
I don’t see how this is a huge difference. Sure, you can now download the ROMs but it’s not like you can get them from any source regardless of copyright. Nor can you sell individual games without using in-app payments.
@kirsch officially, I don't believe so. That a bunch might have slipped through the cracks is another matter. And now it does open the way for sideloading ROMs via Files or Finder, even if that's not the primary purpose of the app
@stroughtonsmith I bet you some apple shindigs didn't think there's going to be interest vs hassle, they got proven wrong by AltStore - and finally see some benefits of EU. AntiEU folks in the UK have their heads spinning.
