Spider seen in Manley. Is this guy a Huntsman? I know they are useful to have in one’s home (they eat other bugs). Still, quite a big boy. And easy to see, even for this poorly-sighted prof.
@onikaze@gallaugher pretty sure huntsman spiders don't make webs, or at least don't sit in them. You'll find them on the walls or ceiling a lot. They get much bigger than that too 👀
@sldrant I saw that as I was perusing the wiki article I linked to after posting. my layman's observation is that they are kinda like tarantulas that went through training to sprint, so they slimmed down and got a few longer legs :P
@onikaze lol, that's certainly a way to describe them. I (vividly) remember waking up as a child with a huge one right in front of me on the wall. I nearly fell out of bed!
Thankfully they're no bother. The red backs and funnel webs OTOH you really do need to know how to recognise and not disturb...
