I mean it wasn’t MY apartment on fire. Just our cable box.

It would have been much more on brand if I had either started said fire or been in the burning building. My brand is slipping. https://mastodon.social/@hotdogsladies/112260842736148777

My spouse wasn’t home during the neighborhood fire and didn’t expect to make sudden eye contact with the Comcast man three stories up.

We don’t have our internet back but we have a gold thing by our window. Does anyone know what this gold thing is?

I’m too embarrassed to ask him.

@alexcox Looks like a way to make running a new cable over a distance easier.

@Topslakr @alexcox Yes, there’s a roller at the bottom that the new cable runs over.

@alexcox My dad used to work for the power company, he says they call them “stringing blocks”, and they’re made to help run new cables and keep them off the ground until they’re properly attached to the poles or buildings. Once everything is locked down, it should be removed.
