I see a lot of stripped arcade cabinets given away for free on Craigslist, and it makes me wonder why people are stripping arcade machines of their internals.
What do they do with the internals? What do they use them for in absence of the cabinets?
Meaning there’s a market for vintage arcade.
Mostly it’s the outside that’s damaged, but if it’s the internals it’s parted out and sold to a collector or someone who has a family dream of ABC game.
Some have externals no cabinet that’s useable.
Then there’s people who have hobbies at finding faults in logic systems and fixing or replacing a problem part etc.
Then there’s just recycling electronic components etc.
@Karstan they're mostly modern machines that are just a PC sitting in a big cabinet. it doesn't seem like there's much of anything rare to salvage in the modern machines
@MLE_online i think nothing. i think they gut them and throw the internals away thinking they're gonna build something with the cabinet and then don't do anything with it
