@RyanParsley it's because eInk does not update quickly and when the screen is paused, the user would really not know it. That overlay just informs the user they should press a button to refresh and wake it.
@danie10 it makes sense that you'd want to indicate potentially stale data. Just feels like you could do it a touch more subtly with a icon in the top or invert colors and not pop a model over 1/3 of the screen. Or, maybe, lean into "sleep mode" a little more with an alternate view all together.
