@yassie_j thanks, it does make it slightly better, but the USA has shown liable to exert absolutely any tiny bit of leverage they have to get more control over things, and you won't hear about it unless they have a Warrant Canary like with Proton.. like the EU isn't a lot better in terms of overreaching security laws and stuff, but at least they don't actively try to weaken the security of things for the sake of having more control
