Yes, this is a constant problem for me because that great idea often fundamentally alters the course a story would take to reach the summary of its ending which I made. I have been afflicted by this problem for many years. With short works, I find it takes just a few hours to rewrite; longer works just get scrapped and started anew. ROFL
