@RL_Dane I've got a couple of these and they're pretty nice little devices. Not a whole lot of Meshtastic activity in my city (about...four or five active nodes) but I really enjoy it. Fun hobby!

I heard something about differences if you have an Amateur Radio license (which I do, though I haven't been on the air in years).

Do you get to use more power if you're a ham? What about restrictions (like concerning encryption)? Are you familiar with that?

@RL_Dane indeed. Ham mode does three things:

  1. allows you to up the power significantly
  2. Requires your station to identify itself
  3. Disallows encryption

@RL_Dane I'm a ham myself, but I've never done ham mode on Meshtastic as it would make communication with non-ham nodes impossible.
