@alcinnz And a thing I considered few times is using a walkie-talkie but yeah the best is to just not bring your cellphone.

@lanodan @alcinnz BTW, some modern transmitters have encryption.
You can enable it, so you communication won't be (easily) intercepted.

But check local laws!
In some countries it is illegal to use amateur radio with encryption.

@totikom @alcinnz That encryption very likely could have the same issues as a dumbphone though, where your device is identifiable but also ends up storing a list of contacts and maybe even some logs or last date of contact.
Encryption is a double edged sword sometimes.

@lanodan @alcinnz in case of radio encryption it is less of a problem, because the only thing that is stored on device is an encryption key.

In many models it is not even extractable (without hardware attacks).

But again, using encrypted transceivers on protests makes you very suspicious.
