Omg, three separate characters have all propositioned my Dark Urge Drow enby in baldur's gate 3, all in the same scene, and I have to make a decision before progressing.
This is worse than a boss fight. I shall die of gay.
I was 100% assuming I would do Karlach but was kind of shocked that she didn't just throw me up against a tree lol.
.... She was very sweet and shy, very realistic. Character comes across as a transfem honestly. It's not intended that way but she reads to me as very trans. Large and powerful but also the most delicate one in a room.
.... The other two gets consideration because I've never actually been pursued in my life and that is kind of appealing.
@CharlotteEowyn Her voice actor is nonbianry, and they let her play Karlach in a very nonbinary-coded way. it's not canon, but that's the why on those vibes.
Also, especially if you're playing Good/Redemption DUrge: romancing Karlach is a wonderful, bottomless bucket of joy and sunshine. She is an INCREDIBLE companion for a Good DUrge run.
Astarion is... very complicated, and if you don't pay very careful attention to things he says and does subtly, you can do HORRENDOUS things to him--

--by accident. Things he'll thank you for. But things that will DESTROY him spiritually. If you do romance him, PLEASE PAY VERY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THINGS HE TELLS YOU. He is... not the kind of person he starts out as.
Shadowheart is lovely, and so is her character arc. That said, she's also your basic Mall Goth with religious trauma. Don't get me wrong, her story is great! But it really doesn't have much of anything to do with a DUrge run in particular.
I do think one problem is, for me, that I had almost no dialogue with Karlach before the goblin party. Like I got her when the only thing I had left to do was clear the goblin base after that, and she never really hit on my character. I mean I did obviously fix her engine, but like.... It's not like Asterion where he flirts every time we rest, or Shadowheart who constantly gives me the gay crush vibes while sighing in my direction, metaphorically speaking.
Googling it it looks like she did once but they patched it out? Not sure if that's true, but looking at Reddit I suspect it is; it seems as if her romance was unpopular with cis guys? I'll probably love it.
But even finding her attractive it's veeeeeery hard for me to even RP a romantic plot with someone without like, conversation and a deep emotional connection.
Ah, being demi. LOL it's even a pain in the ass when playing a video game.
