In 2017 I bought a Nintendo Switch, and one year later a MacBook Pro. I still use both devices today.

The charging cable that came with the Switch still works without flaw, seven years later. I can use it to charge the MacBook as well.

The charging cable that came with the MacBook turned yellow (on the ends) and stopped working reliably a while ago. I replaced the MacBook’s battery and bought a new cable (from Apple), and now this new cable is starting to have to the same issue.

@simevidas It's really a shame, but those cables are crap because Apple has vowed to stop using forever chemicals. That Nintendo cable that doesn't die? Coated with that sweet sweet terrible PVC that never biodegrades but keeps your cable alive longer.

I'm torn on wether or not it's a good thing.

@pl I wish macOS allowed me to limit power output to 60W to preserve the charging cable. I don’t need fast charging.
