A couple weeks ago, I noted that new variants are rising, and we might expect a modest uptick in COVID infections before summer. Biobot just noted a small rise in COVID in wastewater for the first time since December, driven entirely by the Northeast region. It might simply be a leveling off, or it could be a sign that infections are about to rise. I still don't expect a significant surge, but time will tell. https://biobot.io/data/

samohTmaS,

@augieray

Augie - we have seen rises on average every 154 days (110-175 or so). Faster in winter indoors. Slower in summer outdoors. This is precisely as expected. The last peak was about 12/20/23, The beginning of the rise was a month before that.

So five months from Thanksgiving puts the beginning of the next rise about late April, perhaps as late as say May 10. Where are we now? May 7. Gee - big surprise - the next wave is starting. Expect the peak 30-45 days from now. Sigh. Yawn.
