What does one do if a bios update freezes?

@desiree reboot your computer, see if that gets you to a point where you can actually update the BIOS. If the issue persists, or your computer doesn't reboot, there might be a USB port on the back of your machine (assuming it's a desktop, laptops don't usually have this) where you could flash the BIOS off of that drive. Just find a BIOS for your brand and model of motherboard. Failing that, try removing your CMOS battery (the little button cell battery in your motherboard) if it'd accessible, that should force a flash of whatever bios your chipset shipped with.

@pixel Cannot get my computer to boot at all anymore, let alone to an external device, and the motherboard battery is hiding beneath the video card enclosure, and I am completely out of spoons for this tonight. Thank you for the help, I will try to tackle this again tomorrow.

@desiree Of course! Tbh it's a pretty easy solve with the right tools on hand for diagnostics, if you live near anyone particularly tech savvy pinging them is worth a shot, and if not microcenter (if you have one close, if not try a local shop. geek squad will overcharge) should be able to have you up and running in the event you're unable to fix it :) good luck!!
