Tomorrow is my last day of packing, my last day living with transphobic relatives, my last day of this life I built and trapped myself in for ten years.

Fucking terrified, but wish me luck.

the end of secrets of the obscure was awful. i hope anet knows how limp that whole expansion was. good lord.

i wish there was a game that was as fun to play to me as gw2 is, but unfortunately there isnt so i just have to choke down whatever boring content they feed us.

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel As a casual who hasn't picked up the expansion, is it actively worse than the end of the main story? Because that's already a pretty low bar.

I tried a Sonic game again recently (Sonic Advanced 2)

It... continues to be a mystery to me what people see in Sonic games

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@socks At its core, I think the appeal is the combination of fast reaction tests to keep speed up, and flinging yourself blindly into dangerous situations.

I personally think Freedom Planet perfected the Sonic formula by simply removing contact damage from enemies; as long as you maintain a high speed, you are past enemy encounters without having to engage, which rewards moving fast rather than punishing it.

Told one of my normie semi-friend co-workers that Friday would be my last day at work, and he gave me his Steam info for gaming and keeping in touch. My profile page on Steam is much more sanitized than here, buuuut... I'm still furry trash, I'm not going to hide games in my library, and I'm kinda looking forward to the, "Uh, Desiree? What is [insert smutty furry TF VN here]?" conversation if it comes up? :mouse_blob_peek:

@Astia I mean, of course it isn't likely, but at the same time, I'm the sort of person who speculates about and rehearses future potential social interactions as a way to relieve social anxiety. The odds that those scenarios I build up in my head will be useful is close to nil, but having done that prep gives my brain something to latch onto as a way to feel more capable and let go of some of the anxiety.

I've been bouncing between games lately, so just to get some short thoughts out there:

I Wanna Lockpick: I enjoyed it for quite a while, and the game continues to be clever and inventive, but after a point, the game becomes increasingly math-brained (the whole game is math-brained, but the veneer of pure puzzler becomes thinner), and I am not a pure-maths person. Still an easy recommend for the sheer ingenuity.

Nova Drift: This game is a modern take on the old Asteroids arcade game. I grew up as a poverty kid, and one of the games on my first computer was Asteroids, so it's already hitting a nostalgia nugget in my brain. But the design of Nova Drift understands how to capitalize on Asteroids' movement mechanics in ways that the original really didn't, making for a shockingly strategic action shooter.

What does one do if a bios update freezes?

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel Cannot get my computer to boot at all anymore, let alone to an external device, and the motherboard battery is hiding beneath the video card enclosure, and I am completely out of spoons for this tonight. Thank you for the help, I will try to tackle this again tomorrow.

On this Leap Day, take a moment of quiet contemplation of what the holiday means: a testament to the human spirit of, "Eh, it's close enough, we'll fix it every four years."

desiree, to Furry
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

So... kinda fishing for general anecdotes, thoughts, and advice from the #otherkin, #therian, and #furry communities (though anyone else is of course free to chime in with thoughts and opinions).

I really only came into identifying as a furry roughly seven or eight months ago, and designing my 'sona was a lot of time and effort spent on introspection and expressing myself in a way that felt right and natural to me.

More recently, over the past three or so months, I've been having occassional feelings of proprioception ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprioception ) associated with non-existent parts of my body that would correspond to my 'sona: mouse-like ears, muzzle with whiskers, a tail, etc. My partners have been supportive of exploring this, which has been really, really affirming... and also leaving me a fair bit confused about identity and label issues.

I am not typically a spiritual person, but even so, I'm open to all perspectives on this. Thanks for reading, boosts always appreciated.

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel Oh, I completely agree with respect to self-perception. And I totally get being satisfied with "This makes me comfortable and feels good, so why explore it further?". But at the end of the day, I have been exploring myself a lot lately, and this is a new avenue of exploration for me, so I want to follow it and see where it leads me, I suppose.

@desiree hey friend I pinged u on discord a few days ago but I just wanted to check in, I remembered you posting you weren't doing well so I just wanted to see if you were holding up and doing alright 💕

Apologies to everyone who follows me for transformation and/or TF Tuesday content; my mental health continues to be a trash fire and I have thus far failed to find a viable solution for pre-scheduling image posts on Windows.

It is safe to say I probably won't resume regular posts until at least mid-January.

I'm sorry.

The abbreviation for power alac willbender is pawb, which is further proof that it's a spec designed for furries

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel I have a level 80 Mesmer I haven't played in a while because I'm indecisive about which elite spec to start first.

This information may influence the decision-making process.

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel My brain went completely sideways for a minute and forgot that Willbender is a Guardian spec.

I just maxed out Dragonhunter on my Guardian, and am actually leveling Willbender on her next, so I'd be happy to talk shop on that. :mouse_blob_tea:

anyone know of any games they'd recommend to me that are like deep and interesting to sort of chew on but also make me sad a la the drakenier series

ive been looking for a new game to play and i cant think of anything else that fits that mold

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel Bit of a deep cut, but Iconoclasts fits the mold, despite the art style and metroidvania gameplay.

B (not his real name) is a flake. He gets off on the fantasy of being an abused boyfriend. He's exploited by his extended family in un-horny ways. We've chatted off and on for over a decade, and met only a few times out of many potential rendezvous. I've given up on him several times. He still randomly messages me anyway, because he's 56 and has never sucked anyone else's cock. A lot of the time I just leave him on read, which feeds into his scenarios anyway. 1/

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@gray17 Not really my kind of scene, but I really enjoyed your write-up. It was pleasant to have an earnest window into this other life at an interesting and complex--if hopeful--moment in time. Thank you for sharing.

today in porn, I'm procrastinating on writing three interrelated cruel sex endings by thinking more about "already seen".

the limited form of seen-marking is working pretty well, I think it improves playability quite a bit, but it doesn't help the problem of "it's hard to know if I've playtested every meaningful path".

so I'm thinking of adding a milestone system. initial version will be only for playtesting, because it's going to be hard to make it work well for players.

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@gray17 Checkpoint? Waypoint?

It also isn't necessarily a purely playtesting thing; a lot of VNs track how many routes the player has seen, and after the first playthrough, provides a way to visualize and more easily re-explore other variants. A checkpoint system like this could be tweaked to store which checkpoints were hit on a given playthrough and track player progression through various permutations.

Second proxy shopping order is in!! Maybe once my other Tamagotchi arrives later today (hopefully) I'll take a photo of all of my virtual pets. The Doritos shakers were a lot smaller than I expected and they do sort of sound like a bag of chips when I shake them.

Game Boy Color for scale. Also my cat is here? Cat for scale too.

So it looks like Kickstarter has officially backtracked on crypto, so that's cool. I've also heard rumors they've cleared house on some executive staff and their replacements aren't crypto shills, so that's nice too.

Shame that they dropped their crypto BS announcement right ahead of the Kitsune Tails KS our publisher planned to put on and made our lives so much fucking harder

@eniko God, I love little discrete animations like this! It really emphasizes the care being put into the art, spending time on animating small moments that probably can't be reused elsewhere.

If Kitsube Tales wasn't already on my wishlist, it would be now.

A New Beginning (2012) is a point-and-click adventure from Daedalic that tries to tell a complicated story about time-travel and climate change, and misses more than it hits.

Protag 1 is a retired scientist named Bent who overworked on an alternative-energy algae, to the detriment of his marriage and son. In an early scene, he answers a call from his therapist, who pushes him into repeating the statement, "I'm not responsible for the whole world". 1/

@desiree could I enlist you to do some tf/hypnosis smut detective work for me? There are two stories (well, one two-part story and one comic) I've been looking for again for the longest time and I canNOT find them D:

desiree,
@desiree@chitter.xyz avatar

@pixel Spent a good chunk of my evening trawling the internet and my own records, but I'm afraid I couldn't find the comic you're after. Only other thought I have is to check Arania's gallery ( arania.kamiki.net ), since lineart with colored emphasis is something she sometimes does, but it's midnight and I am exhausted. I'm really sorry.

I'll take a stab at locating the story on another evening.
