@guncelawits @trochee Trump is actually a war criminal, if not to the extent he wants.

He loosened the restrictions on collateral damage/civilian casualties for drone strikes and also made it so that records of strikes and their casualties were not public.

Reminds me of TRANSMETROPOLITAN's Beast v Smiler election

Though Spider comes off as grass-always-greener naïve when he seems to say (after the fact) that electing Smiler was a mistake

@trochee @guncelawits Both The Beast and The Smiler were supposed to be analogous to Nixon, IIRC. Just different aspects of Nixon.

It's easy to compare them to the two faces of the American political establishment, too

The Beast is the overtly corrupt [the Roy Cohn GOP, since Nixon]

The Smiler is the covertly corrupt [DNC as handmaidens of corporate power, since at least Clinton]

@trochee @guncelawits The Democratic Party is far from where I’d like it to be, but it’s pretty different from how it was in the 90s.

And politicians from both parties being subservient to corporate/lobby interests didn’t start with Clinton either. It goes back to the early 20th century and probably earlier.

Reagan put the Smiler on the outside and never performed The Beast on camera.
