I'm finding the best reaction I can give to new tech right now is, "I don't care." or "I'll check it out when I feel I need to." there's very little really pushing new things in a way I'm truly interested in at the moment.

e.g: I missed the iPad event because getting up at 5AM in NZ for a product advert, for something I don't need right now, would've been a silly idea.

A lot of what Apple does, isn't motivating me like it once did. They're still the least worst option for me right now, though.

@dave Yeah Apple's whole product character has changed. It's been slowly changing for years. They've always had an element of ‘shiny tech toy' but lately that's become a much more dominant theme. The ‘bicycle for the mind' part's obscured.

@huwr 💯 yup. It’s frustrating as they could do a lot of really consumer friendly, positive stuff, without dramatically upsetting their bottom line in a way that better protects their brand.

The absolute madness of iPad pencil comparability for example. Make them all forwards compatible, you just don’t get the features of the new ones. Don’t sell more than 2.

Steve Jobs’ 4 squares for products is nowhere in all this now

@dave yeah, for me the appeal of apple is that it's not google

@technicat yup, and not Microsoft.
