@huggypages @dangillmor OBD2 was introduced in 1994ish and mandated starting with the 1997 model year, and though it collects a fair bit of telemetry it is inaccessible without a scanner physically plugged into the diagnostic port and knows nothing about location of the vehicle or who is driving.The predecessor was widely deployed in the 1988 model year and collects fairly limited data and was not well standardized either.

In any case an aftermarket EV conversion would render the entire OBD2 system inoperable, hence the suggestion.
