@tillybridges I love Solo Role Playing‡ for the same reason. It can get SO emotional.

Some groups at a table can do that, but very few have both the trust, and skill to let that flow.

‡ D&D(ish) things, but where you're the only player discovering the story & characters as you go.

@masukomi i think that’s fab! it can and does very much happen with group RPGs too, but that’s always going to depend on the players and, even more, the GM. but I’ve learned there are some very very bad GMs out there who don’t really understand what their role is supposed to be, sadly

@tillybridges 100% i think that even if you have a great GM there's still the hurdle of having players who can trust each other enough to be vulnerable & have safety tools in place that they actually trust and believe are a real option for them.

society makes this so hard. toxic masculinity makes this... ugh. poor men. SO much to unlearn.
