@kevbob Nothing for it but to dig up the lilac to get the blackberry out. Anything short of that, you're going to be fucking with that thing for years.
I too had a rule against prickery plants when I had a garden. Love the raspberries/blackberries, hate the prickers.
Also, don't plant catnip if you don't want cats fighting and shitting all over your yard.

I’m prepping this house to sell, I want it to be someone else’s problem. The blackberries haven’t been too much trouble, I usually get an intruder 3 or 4 times a year, I just dig out the visible part when it shows and I’ve been good with that.
I have enough trouble with mint sending its tendrils under and across the property, blackberry plants are verboten. (Love the fruit, do not want the plant.)
