Most of the web is a connected series of mini-platforms that basically offer nothing but a restrictive interface to dictate what users submit, and make inferences about how it's submitted in order to do something novel in displaying it.

Publishers like news sites or The Onion or Cracked where the content displayed is developed in-house (though their use of AI is a whole other topic) may still have something to offer people.

But platforms are going to be overrun by stuff nobody wants to look at
