It is 14:30 and I’m just now getting to Star Trek. I’m starting not with the new ep of Discovery but with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, in preparation for the Streaming Syboktacular.
I might have seen this one before, but I doubt it. I really don’t like James TOS Kirk.
“Story by William Shatner” is not an auspicious start. Directed by William Shatner. Across excessive opening credit footage of William Shatner rock climbing.
I’m now hoping that Spock sets Kirk and McCoy on fire, the same as I am hoping T’Pol murders her own bigoted white captain and his good ol’ boy soulmate.
I wonder if Book is deliberately doing a sexy-menacing thing like David Bowie the Goblin King as Burnham tries to navigate the labyrinth of her mind. "I can release you" seemed particularly reminiscent of Jareth's fake-concern for Sarah.
Supposedly it then went from four to three. Marina Sirtis had the same reaction, telling EW, “I objected to Troi having three breasts. I felt women have enough trouble with two. And how are you going to line them up? Vertically, horizontally, or what? I was like, please, don’t go there. And they didn’t, fortunately.”
@Cassandra James T Kirk STOS was a narcissistic sexist pig. I enjoyed TOS when it was first on (!) despite this but holding my nose at the stupid seduction scenes Kirk always had. My hero was Spock. ;)
