Every new pitch I hear for "AI" makes me think wow they must have come up with some interesting new technique, otherwise these claims are obviously false. And then you look into it and it's still just a very complex stochastic model underneath. But the financially motivated folks keep claiming that there's actual factual based use cases for this stuff and I really am not seeing it.

@forensicgarlic yeah, it's hard to come up with ACTUAL USE CASES for these general LLM AIs, they're typically going to be buried in the pipeline, and then the actual use cases turn out to be very hard to actually get right especially with these general models, it's not just a plug and play. meanwhile actual decent AI/ML, generally modestly sized models special built for the task, keep chugging along...

@gzt part of it is definitely marketing. Like I know my field is finding some early success using neural nets for predictions.
