I had a blast this morning working on my new store. Worked from 12:30am to 7:30am until I stopped and laid on the couch with my phone. It’s nice to be excited about something again and have a big project to work on.

My partner gave me the talk again about having hobbies. I’ve tried to find hobbies outside of my business. I just don’t like anything. I liked Tavern Master until I made my tavern run so efficiently it didn’t need me anymore. It’s hard to get myself to sit down and read a book too.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer this is me with my stuff when working on my business lol. My business is my hobby and fun. 😊

@ChronicallyTired Same. I don't feel like I need hobbies. I can always create new projects, but I feel like doing other things that require brain effort, like learning a language, would just cause burnout.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer agreed. Also, I’ve seen what other people do as hobbies, I’m still looking for the one which requires zero work/effort.

Learning languages is so difficult for me and I don’t know why. I don’t know how people do that consistently for fun.

@ChronicallyTired From what I read, many entrepreneurs do athletics, but I’m physically disabled. I told my partner my hobbies will be leaving my apartment once I move and get an electric wheelchair. Going to the zoo or botanical gardens or downtown. There’s museums too.

I thought about learning coding for fun because I like R, but there’s no practical purpose and I could just burnout.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer I try athletics and what not, but I have never enjoyed it enough to continue unless it’s completely gamified. Also I have successfully managed to not be kind to my knees, so it’s not always an option.

Those both sound like fun! I’ve generally defaulted to reading since it intersects with research, and then allowing myself to hyper focus on subjects from time to time. Going down the rabbit holes always is fun.

R could be fun, but yeah, it’s a lot if not for a reason.

@ChronicallyTired It seems like many of the ones I read about do athletics competitively. Some make art too, but I have hand tremors and can barely sign my own name.

Reading about different subjects is good. I read a lot when I was younger, now I can’t sit still long enough to read one on my kindle.

I donated all my books yesterday and gave them to the junk people because in 2.5 years never opened any of them.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer Makes sense. I have trouble with art due to a bit of carpel tunnel, so fine motor control is hit and miss in terms of me feeling pain while it happens. Makes it hard to really want to do that style of stuff.

Fair, I both can't not finish books and also probably force it a bit. My understanding is my reading is a bit over the top at times though.

Gaming could be a good option, but the Tavern Master story is impressive optimization. Now pondering what would be an optimal choice.

@ChronicallyTired Steam had tons of stuff. One I have that I like is an Alice in wonderland jigsaw puzzle game. I have lots of puzzle games. Bought a fancy Alienware so I could develop a gaming hobby but I only use it to work lol. Planet Zoo was very stressful.

There’s a coffee shop business game I have that I like. That requires my attention. Audiobooks are good too.

My temporary hobby can be packing up my apartment and unpacking and cleaning my apartment so I get my deposit back haha.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer oh, puzzle games are fun! Outer Wilds is a good one where you are a space explorer and you are just trying to figure out what’s going out in your solar system. The issue with that one is that the flying controls are a bit clunky, so I’m not sure how that would be overall.

I love the coffee shop games though, and the other business like ones. Those and Sims are always good time sinks.

Cleaning is fun…I support this lol. I love a good to do list being completed.

@ChronicallyTired Cleaning should be my favorite thing. It is not lol.

That sounds like an interesting game! I thought about getting a controller so its easier to play the gardening bunny game I have. Will wait until I move.

One hobby I need to have is recording product demo videos and taking product photos. I have soooo many product samples! Should be a lot of fun. My new apartment will be far nicer than my current one and lots of natural light.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer I have no real explanation why I enjoy it, but I do lol.

That could work well! I know they have lots of cool controllers out there. My PS5 is my main thing to game on though, so I default Sony as a consequence.

That sounds like a ton of fun! Especially because then thinking through what things to highlight for functionality versus making it better for selling. The natural life should definitely help too! I had to get a video light thing because I don't have that here for zoom.

@ChronicallyTired Your house must be very clean!

I think the bunny game is available on those consoles. What kind of games do you play on it?

I bought one of those ring lights to help, but my current apartment has almost no natural light so it's always dark in here unless I turn the lights on. I'll have a place to record them too. The ones up on my store I recorded on my patio. Since I'm moving to a 2 bedroom I'll have space to make a setup for demo videos and photos.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer it was for a bit, but now with a toddler I’m kinda just keeping up with the destruction they create lol.

I jump around a lot. Fall Guys I come back to, a few RPG’s. I like either very story driven or very grindy games where I can sit for long periods of time. The Portal duopoly was also fun though.

Ohhh, another room is awesome! You could do a ton of cool things with the background, and then there is a lot of options for having easy access to products as well. 😃

@ChronicallyTired I can imagine kids make it difficult to stay organized.

That’s good you have an outlet for your focus and relaxing.

I’ll have to look up that game. Sounds interesting. It will probably be on steam. I still have yet to play something graphics and power heavy that my computer can handle.

ChronicallyTired,

@ashleyspencer hopefully it goes well if you do try it. Not the most visually demanding game, but both of them and outer wilds are all fairly fun. 😊

@ashleyspencer I relate to all of this so much. Thanks for sharing.
