When you obtain some retro technology and you just hope the old battery inside it has enough juice left in it to just be usable.

@andrew And the screen looks pretty readable. What kind of devide is it? A word processor?

@amoroso yep, much in the same vein as the old AlphaSmart devices. The Writer series of devices was designed for students, with this one having more features to help students with their spelling and grammar; and includes built in text-to-speech.

I’ve been into dedicated word processors for journaling and thought development since I started using my PSION 5 PDA last year. Unfortunately that broke so I started looking elsewhere and came across this (to avoid buying a Freewrite)

@andrew Pretty cool thanks, I didn't know the device.

@amoroso I had no idea about them either until I happened to come across a blog post talking about AlphaSmart alternatives.

There isn't a ton of info about them online so depending on my experience, I might write and post more about it.

@andrew Since the Writer was aimed at students I hope the price was affordable back then. The similar devices for journalists and professionals like the TRS-80 Model 100 were astronomically expensive for hobbyists and individuals.
