Claims Made By ‘UFO Whistleblower’ David Grusch Are Pure Science Fiction

Let’s start with the claim that these vehicles have crash-landed on Earth.

Whether one believes that said vehicles are extraterrestrial or inter-dimensional in origin, it is an extraordinary leap of logic to assume that they are janky enough to crash, let alone with the frequency that Grusch and other UFO enthusiasts claim.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Futurama, and Rick and Morty all frequently depict spaceships that crash-land, for the sake of narrative, rather than logic.

A crash forces the characters into a difficult situation, perhaps marooned on a hostile world, or forced to engage with alien inhabitants; it is a widely used trope because it sparks drama.

However, if one assumes that alien life is advanced enough to design vehicles capable of prolonged periods of space travel (or inter-dimensional travel), then why are they crashing like drunk teenagers?

Indeed, why would these vehicles be piloted at all?

My main question about all of this stuff is like. If we've been reverse engineering alien tech this whole time -- which is by definition, from a culture which has figured out interstellar travel and survived the great filter -- then why does everything suck so much? Why is our tech so shitty, and, more importantly, totally in line with the capabilities of an industrial civilization limited to the materials on this planet?

ProcurementCat,

While I generally agree with the entire article, I think this argument isn't very solid. There exist lots of locations on earth where ship losses are very frequent. Even though today's technology would seem unfathomly otherworldly to people from the medieval, modern technology still isn't synonymous with perfection. There's no reason to assume that this doesn't apply to highly advanced extraterrestrial technology.

I'm still really curious to hear what happens after the whistleblower case is resolved (if the public is told anything at all).

I watched an interview with him on News Nation just out of curiosity and I get the sense that he believes what he's saying, however I don't believe that the government would be capable of covering up the existence of some sort of non-human intelligence. I like the idea of being one of many different life forms in the universe, but so far no evidence has convinced me that humanity has discovered anything that indicates that we aren't alone.
