Denis Villeneuve is doing Dune 3

They’re dune it. Variety reports that following the massive box office success of Dune: Part Two, Legendary has tapped Denis Villeneuve for a third installment that would presumably continue the story of how Paul Atreides goes on to conquer the galaxy. Earlier this year, Villeneuve told Empire that he had already “put words on paper” thinking about where he would like to take the Dune franchise going forward.

Conyak,

Please don’t. Dune Messiah wasn’t that good and I really don’t see how you make it into a good movie. We really don’t need to milk this franchise until we are all sick of it.

scytale,

It’s an unpopular opinion, but Messiah is my favorite book in the series, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m also excited to see how the navigators will look like.

kakes,

I’m so excited to see this. We’ve seen several adaptations of the first and third books, but never (that I know of) the second.

DestroyerOfWorlds,

Hope it is a musical

This is going to be interesting, as Dune Messiah is a radically different book to Dune. It eschews a lot of the action and heroics in favor of discussions of politics and statecraft. Very much a slow-burn compared to first book.
