I’d like to see the ratio of subs vs blocks vs mutes

original_ish_name,

I can tell you right now - Elon Musk has way more subscribers than that.

Anyway, since when did fake internet points matter so much?

OskarAxolotl,

What even is this website? Why do people keep posting obvious SEO spam?

I mean, fortune is a garbage publication with a solid track record of people featured on the cover facing criminal charges in the future. But pretending it’s SOE spam is pretty far off base.

Personally, I’m enjoying their newfound skepticism of Musk’s lies and nonsense.

Chobbes,

… How is nearly $2 million in revenue annually for an OnlyFans account considered “marginally successful?” What a ridiculous way of framing this.

Consider that only fans accounts may have many more subscribers and much higher revenue.

Chobbes,

I’ll quote my other response for you here, but this really doesn’t seem to be the case. The vast majority of OnlyFans accounts are going to have far less than 40k subscribers. There is no way that the average person is pulling in anywhere near $2 million / year on OnlyFans. I’m sure there’s lots of people who are doing quite well on the platform, but they are almost certainly the exception.

I would be astounded if the median OnlyFans account is pulling in $2 million per year. I did a little bit of digging and this site:

earthweb.com/onlyfans-statistics/

Seems to suggest that the average OnlyFans creator makes $151/mo based on the fact that the average account has about 21 subscribers and the average subscription fee across all accounts is about $7.20/mo. I’m not sure where they got these numbers from exactly, but that would line up with what I expect — most people aren’t going to have 40k fans.

So… If the average person on OnlyFans is only making $1812/year (the median is probably making even less due to the outliers who make a huge amount of money), then it seems like a massive stretch to call a $2 million / year account “moderately successful”. That’s just ridiculous

Marginally successful? I think the idea of success has drifted due to social media. Even if each subscriber is only paying a dollar a month, an OnlyFans account with 40,000 subscribers is still making $480,000 per year. Sure the take-home pay will be much smaller, (probably only about half of that) but that’s still an amount that most millionaires would cream their pants over. Most millionaires accumulated their wealth over a decade, not just two or three years. That isn’t just “marginally successful.” That is full blown “can retire in three to five years (depending on their area’s cost of living) and live off the interest for the rest of their life” money.

Sure, 40k isn’t a lot on Twitter. But it is absolutely a lot on OnlyFans. It’s not going to make you Belle Delphine, but it’s definitely going to leave you with enough to be set for the future.

Chobbes,

Apparently the minimum subscription price on OnlyFans is $4.99/mo too… which is more than $2 million in revenue annually. How on earth is that “marginally successful”. I despise Elon, but this framing is just stupid.

How many subscribers does the median only fans account have? Perhaps that’s what “moderate success” means

I think the average versus median skews things a lot. Given the $5/mo minimum, and the number of creators that have secondary accounts that offer free content before you subscribe to the “vip” account, it’s hard to judge.

Obviously the normal case isn’t someone pulling down a million a year doing sex work online. But I’m just wondering what the median subscriber account per creator is.

Chobbes,

I mean regardless… if your business is pulling in $2 million dollars per year and most of that revenue is pure profit… Most people would consider that more than a modest success.

I’d be ecstatic with $2M a year, personally. Sure.

Taking home $240k a year is not retire in five years money. Hell, even if you banked every cent of that $480k for 5 years, you’re only going to draw $96k a year from an investment portfolio at 4% draw a year. That’s not a great retirement situation for someone making $480k.

Most millionaires would look at $240k a year as a good addition to their nest egg.

WarmSoda,

A third of that is probably journalists that report on every move he makes.
