Nobody wants the Twitter world in the Fediverse. Threads should also be blocked. It would be akin to social media gentrification.

Unironically. IMHO the world "wants" a big universal microblog thing and will scale toward it; I think we either get everyone on a thing like this, or simply continue to get worse pockets of boring and/or garbage.

Straw man. I make no claim about musk. This is more of a claim about how fediverse or other alternatives might lose against the inertia of the Twitter platform’s appeal.

I have no idea why anyone wants to bring this sewer content of Twitter to the Fediverse unless you want to kill it too. Leave the trash on Twitter and the Fediverse alone. This whole "Let some billionaire run a website" has not worked at all for the common good.

Presently, and perhaps for the future, the fediverse and Twitter are roughly equally trashy.

More to the point, though: The entire point of the fediverses technical DESIGN makes it likely that the billionaires couldn't run the website.

Well, my Mastodon timelines are not full of ads, blue checkmark disinformation, Nazi content and other sewage, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Billionaires can still set up farms of Mastodon servers and flood the Fediverse with their garbage. For that exact reason, anything from Elon or Zuck or Jack needs to be fenced off. Again, unless you want to kill the Fediverse.

Just checked my Twitter feed, from whoever I was following in 2022. Was good actually. Yes ads. But far from sewerage.

While I’m sure there’s trash there, there’s trash here too.

And for all the peeps with feet in both places, I suspect exaggerated hell scape claims like yours can, ironically, come off as part of the trashiness here.
