I just read this article by @smashingmag

Tina CMS be looking very very interesting 👀

I didn't know it could be self-hosted, they also have a generous per project 'free-for-life' tier on their own hosting (Tina Cloud) which would work for many use-cases, up to two users.

I can see this being the CMS I learn and offer future clients, paired with 11ty.

@christian I want to like Tina because it does look good and I loved Forestry, but for so long they went hard React-only and let down all non-React Forestry users with no upgrade path.

It looks better now but it's hard to trust a company that went "we're killing your CMS in a few months, switch to React or get fucked"

I have been there and I share those feelings.

What would be the CMS you'd preferably use with Eleventy these days? I have to make that choice again these days and I'm still undecided (asking both of you of course)

@lene @christian Ahhhh, good question, and one I don't have a good answer for!

I don't do a lot of 11ty+CMS at the moment so haven't thought about/researched in a while.

Personally headless WordPress or Craft CMS are strong contenders in terms of being cheap and very flexible.

From the headless side Cloudcannon looks very good and I appreciate their sponsorship of Zach, but a bit pricey. We use Sanity a little at work and it seems okay, I don't really have any strong opinions on it.

Apologies for jumping in… Maybe have a look at @getkirby which could be a nice fit for what you want to do, such a flexible and great system. Great docs, support, people.

@foobartel thank you! I really always wanted to look at that one. I like the pricing model, too.

Same, actually a good reminder. I've been meaning to buy a copy in the past (Especially when they had some sales) but always forget.

My only hang-up I think is that there is no free hosted option, being self-hosted is lovely but comes with extra cost too for a server. I would like to try and at least offer no-monthly-cost CMS solutions to clients. Maybe the solution is somewhere in the middle - learn both Kirby and Tina, provide what's needed 😅

@lene @accudio @christian I've used Tina for a while as I wanted a way to post links on my site from my phone.

The mobile UI is awful, but I plugged it into my 11ty site pretty swiftly and the mechanics of it work fine
