Today I had to use a particularly bad UI of a digital music distribution service to upload a song from my partner. I got severe anxiety symptoms. Conclusion: I can no longer survive in what the real world has to deal with in terms of user interfaces

Danke @nikitonsky

@jensgro @nikitonsky nicht wahr?? Habe das direkt an meine ganze Familie in DE geschickt.

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@PaGn @jensgro bestimmt gibt es einiges zu verbessern/ ergänzen. Zum Beispiel sollten die Bilder statt title lieber alt Attribute haben. Aber die Idee ist genial

Maybe this is how we can win! We shall all go and build ad free aggregators like @nikitonsky did for german cinemas. Websites, that are only designed to make all data accessible to users as quickly and easily as possible.

@cjerrington I think that might nave happened because of whitespace at the beginning of the string.

Here is the fix:

Hey @lene I’ve been looking at your excellent eleventy template and it’s been working great getting things moved over.

Have you tried the new alpha eleventy 3.0 with it yet?

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@cjerrington Yes! The v3 branch runs on Eleventy 3.0 and uses ES modules. I also started using webC for components. https://github.com/madrilene/eleventy-excellent/tree/v3

I found the cited article about AI and UX by @PavelASamsonov in @eric's "linkdump", which has become my favorite newsletter.

Hello @lene, love your eleventy-excellent theme! I have a quick question on it. For the .njk files, are we able to use both .njk and .md files to create pages? Sorry, new to eleventy. :)

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@beardedtechguy Hi Kyle! I prefer to use .md files in the pages folder if they fit into an existing layout, but of course you can also put .njk files there. This is just how I like to organise my projects, Eleventy is very flexible and allows you to do as you wish

@lene Thank you for all of your hard work on Eleventy Excellent! I’ve been loving all of the features.

I was wondering if you have to add links to the og images in frontmatter in order to get them to work? I have verified they are generating for me, but for some reason they aren’t showing up when I share a link. Thank you in advance for your help!

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@ehqo Hi, thank you, your site looks great!
Looking into the source code, I saw that there is a whitepace between your domain name and the path:

There was an issue about that and it is fixed now: https://github.com/madrilene/eleventy-excellent/issues/39

When doing book reviews for O'Reilly, one option is to be paid in books! Here is part of my haul -

My goodness that CSS book is chonky, @estelle and @Meyerweb ! I knew it'd be big, hahahah, but at 1100 pages it truly has biblical proportions!

@deadparrot @addyosmani

The CSS book seen obliquely from the side showing how deep it is (just under 6cm or 2.5 inches).
One of my children reading about CSS (face obscured by huge book).

Can anyone working at comment on the current discourse regarding small hobbyists with static sites having to unexpectedly deal with huge, sudden bills?

Do I need to be worried I might get stung?

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@cory @sarajw @sangster Neocities maybe? I'm also planning to change hosting for my static sites and was looking at that one

lene, to 11ty
@lene@front-end.social avatar

I would like to share some thoughts about working with .
For some time now I have been using it on a component basis in sites that otherwise depend primarily on Nunjucks or Liquid. The "non-traditional WebC usage" (https://www.11ty.dev/docs/languages/webc/#non-traditional-webc-usage).

For components without major complexity, this is something that works well for me. However, I have also tried to rely entirely on WebC, which, as I understand it, is the intended approach.

lene,
@lene@front-end.social avatar

@darius Now that I know this will definitely be developed further, I'm planning a blog post with my findings, and I'm also planning to create a small documentation page that will mainly contain examples. I always need examples to understand something. This page would of course be very open for any participation!

Thank you @raed so much for your post about deleting your Spotify subscription!

@ohhelloana @raed My partner is one of those indie musicians. I wish there was a platform that paid them fairly - I would subscribe instantly. And, I never really considered the impact on the environment in this context. Thanks for making me aware! I guess I will return to my JJ Cale MP3 collection.
