Held dieser Actionserie ist Colt Seavers, der hauptberuflich als Stuntman beim Film arbeitet und für mehr oder weniger berühmte Hollywoodschauspieler gefährliche Szenen doublet. Da das kein Vollzeitjob ist, arbeitet Seavers nebenbei als Kopfgeldjäger, um sich noch ein paar Brötchen zusätzlich zu verdienen. Er sucht also Menschen, die eines Verbrechens beschuldigt werden und gegen Zahlung einer Kaution bis zum Beginn der Gerichtsverhandlung auf freien Fuß gesetzt wurden, sich dann jedoch aus dem Staub machten. Das ist ein spannender aber oft auch gefährlicher Job, bei dem Seavers seine Fähigkeiten als Stuntman oft zugute kommen. Er wird bei seiner Arbeit unterstützt von seinem Cousin Howie Munson und von der überaus attraktiven Jody Banks, die beide als Jung-Stuntman ebenfalls beim Film arbeiten.
Die Schlümpfe leben in Schlumpfhausen, ihrem Heimatort im „Verwunschenen Land“. Schlumpfhausen wird als „Schlumpfokratie“ ohne weitere Staatsorgane regiert. Papa Schlumpf nimmt als väterlicher Anführer eine Art Bürgermeisterfunktion wahr und hebt sich von den anderen Schlümpfen durch seine weiße Barttracht und seine rote Kleidung ab. Opa Schlumpf trägt einen weißen langen Bart und gelbe Kleidung, die übrigen Schlümpfe sind bartlos und, mit Ausnahme der Schlumpflinge, weiß gekleidet und tragen meist eine phrygische Mütze. Die markanten Persönlichkeiten sind jedoch optisch auf ihr Können festgelegt. Schlümpfe sind immer männlich und werden nicht geboren, sondern von Störchen gebracht. Weibliche Schlümpfe wie Schlumpfine und Omaschlumpf können nur durch einen Zauberspruch, angewendet auf blaue Tonerde, entstehen.
