Anybody ever managed to get to work?

I tried 3 different servers to send something to a Sony Bravia TV…
minidlna: never worked
DMS: plays mp3s but not videos, and gets a pipe error when transcoding
gerbera: isn't even shown by the TV because of some unknown error.

Autant j'arrivais à faire marcher miniDLNA suite Debian avec BubbleUPNP entre le serveur en la tv
Autant mon problème était la base de données qui disparaissait au moindre reboot (fichiers multimédia sur un NAS montéun NFS)

Is there anyone who uses a hardware #hifi component to #stream #music files from a #server or #nas in your network (using protocols like #smb or #upnp #dlna) to your amplifier? If so, what are you using and what are you experiences? I would like to have a chat about this matter and it would be nice to make an overview of different solutions with exact features (and bugs!) because this information is almost impossible to find. #streaming

@frehi

I'm a noob trying to grok how to make (as the domestic music player) and (as the music server) play nicely together on an old PC running .

I have yet to figure out how to direct home assistant to a folder on nextcloud for it's music, but there's probably a way, as home assistant can recognise my nextcloud server as a device. they both have a nice GUI, and nextcloud has easy GUI file uploading, so it should be an easy system for me to use even if I come back to it in a few years wanting to adjust it.

Even Yunohost has a (web portal) GUI.

Oh I also need my home assistant server to recognise the soundcard.

(Home assistant can also recognise and servers, and Yunohost has jellyfin and miniDLNA in it's app store so these are probably plan B & plan C)

Two hurdles and then I'm sorted! Probably.

Storing your personal data, family photos, and other files in the cloud may be utilized for machine learning and AI purposes by ToS. It doesn't matter if it is a free or paid service. These greedy companies will not stop. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent this from happening besides discontinuing the use of nearly all cloud services.

kkarhan,

@wa7iut @nixCraft OFC that may not be viable for everyone, but a @Raspberry_Pi - even Version 1.2 Model B or with a USB hub - work wenn enough as an & - Fileshare on the LAN...

Personally, I think that the only method to enshure one's data isn't monetized is to pay for the service directly in lieu of data selling and ads.
