The myth, the legend, the one and only nakinyo dropping an entire sick remix album of anime and Western music to brighten up your day.

Any thoughts on tailscale? I am contemplating changing the management access path for my servers

rewarp,

@jerry

I run a headscale/Tailscale based VPN for my makerspace's fleet of servers and other devices. After the initial setup, everything is just chugging along.

Occasionally with some of my systems I end up having to debug the DNS resolver because of MagicDNS but that's nothing too serious compared to actually being able to roll my own VPN now within a few hours.

The challenge has been showing my colleagues why they should learn how to use a VPN beyond privacy protection. So I have been rolling out Jellyfin and other stuff to get them into it.

Rewatching Into the Spider-Verse with the Japanese dub was extremely entertaining and natural.

It sucks that the people in power may perhaps be moved only by cratering voter support.

Suffering people being starved and bombed seemingly meaningless.

Deploying a functional VPN privately is so easy with Tailscale and Headscale!

Finished a setup right before brunch hour! Ready for testing with some folks heading to China to tell me if it works.

I wonder if this will work.

Yesterday, as part of a tech demo to a board member who rubs noses with US embassy officials, I wrote out "I am an anarchist. Israel commits warcrimes. Fuck America. Solidarity with Gaza." into the machine learning system I was working on for them.

It was cathartic.

rewarp,

I should auto-populate the prompt with "Free Palestine".

And because capitalism, I am the only person capable of fixing that into the system for this NGO and no one can do anything about it.

Zionists are fascists. You will go into my "block on sight" category.

Don't bother engaging with me.

This Compaq Presario CQ42 has even defeated antiXLinux, weird bug where the USB drive loads faster than the harddrive, and also can't handle keychatter so we get stuck at the boot screen forever.

Last desperate attempt to get it working seems to have stuck, and it is running Manjaro with XFCE. So yeah, it's running Arch now out of necessity. :black_sparkling_heart:

For those looking for a Bandcamp alternative, I propose checking out Magnatune.

I saved up enough money a few years ago and paid for an unlimited downloads Magnatune account, which promises a 50/50 split with any artists hosting on the platform.

One time payment, use forever (while the site is still running), the end.

http://magnatune.com/

Pretty certain I still haven't even used up that bulk purchase to download and stream every album on that site.

If you start off sneering loudly if the person asking you not to do a warcrime condemns Hamas, you are perhaps slightly beyond redemption.

Talking point: “mAyBe HaMaSs wAs HiDIn wEaPons ThEre”

Facts: The hospital was run by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, a group of more than 20 sects. Fleeing northern Gaza Palestinians and Christians were taking shelter and being treated. Hamas would not be hiding anything there.

rewarp,

@anarchosynthism @jamigibbs @Miriamm

Also IDF track record of lying through their teeth. See Shireen Abu Akleh, who had the benefit of being a famous journalist so her murder could not be attributed to a non-IDF source as easily.

The thing about seeing lies being repeated about Palestinian deaths at IDF hands repeatedly for years is no one but those willing to cover up warcrimes and genocide would seriously buy that Israel after giving 24 hours to evacuate 1.2 million people, would conveniently not be the one that dropped one bomb out of thousands landing every day on this hospital.

Ye olde Frankie Boyle liner about learning Krav Maga so you can beat up a Palestinian grandma still resonates.

I don't watch football at all since I accepted I don't actually find it interesting, and practically speaking the only thing I know about Celtic is their unequivocal support for Palestinians.

Which means I do have a favourite kickball team.

YouTube earns revenue in the billions. I have never felt less inclined to fall for their begging like they are a newsroom reporting exclusively on public interest issues.

rewarp,

Connecting this idea to some of the stuff I read in Graeber & Wengrow, and coming out with the praxis that anything that makes more than a billion dollars per financial quarter is a resource hoarding thief that people should just take things from without question as a moral imperative.

Congratulations to @alex for being reported on here to the admins (which includes Alex), for speaking up against the genocide of Palestinians. Top notch 👍

rewarp,

@timnitGebru

It's been an effective way to tell which fair-weather follow I should be dropping and more to add to the block list. Inhumane excuses in support of genocide is like, not even up there on things up for debate.

My political platform will be:

  • ending wars
  • ensuring cheese does not come on food orders by default
  • universal healthcare
  • addressing the “pineapple on pizza problem”
  • addressing the housing crisis
  • putting an end to systemd
rewarp,

@ikt @jerry

As one who uses mostly systemd and one systemd-less machine, I believe that peace and prosperity within diversity is possible.

Fantasy wish fulfilment. Give a pharmacist researcher godlike powers to cure and harm.

It's wish fulfilment fantasy because every authority figure in the story gets somewhat easily convinced to do what is good for the many.

In these days where a pandemic is raging unchecked and both self-appointed and appointed leaders have chosen to just let it rip for a magical line that needs to go up forever, I have nothing bad to say.

It's entertainment for the times we live in.

A lot of newer art is made with AI. I wonder if this is a useful practice. A lot of this art is randomly green stuff on lots of circular modern style buildings and lots of solar panels.

One thing that living systems have is a functional purpose. We see a lot of that in vernacular architecture too. I wonder if it's good to imagine a future that is based on random probabilities and not on context.

It's fast and good looking results, but the lack of thought behind it concerns me.

rewarp,

@jacobcoffin @alxd @ubi

I am reading the official core rulebook of Coyote & Crow right now and this is probably the best solarpunk literature I have read yet. The alternate history of a never colonized Turtle Island with some sci-fi and lots of indigenous re-imaginations of their alternate futures is rather inspiring.

The book has guidelines for non-natives for building characters and stories which could serve as a good base for more art.

rewarp,

@alxd @jacobcoffin @ubi

Factions exist. There is even an expansionist empire, an alternate history of enslavement, and company towns (noted in universe as quite odd).

In the first 100 pages there is already an introduction of resource management concerns in Cahokia because people are living to over 150 and have 4 children on average.

I wonder if the people feeding you that clearly wrong information were doing it intentionally.

rewarp, to internet

Was thinking too far ahead for so long, how to pipe websites on a remote system to my local machine's Firefox just to help toggle some router settings, and suddenly I realised I could just have used Lynx, the terminal web browser.

Stripped of everything except html, it's bloody fast too. Too bad it took me years to connect the neurons.

#LynxBrowser #Internet #Linux
