another from Cohen. if all you hear is the sex, or a thousand overplayed versions by people who don't understand it, you've stopped listening far too soon. #DeathsAndDoorways #JukeboxFridayNight
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue
but hallelujah
Another for #JukeboxFridayNight#DeathsAndDoorways - I haven't seen this go past my timeline yet, but as usual, apologies if someone has posted it and I missed it.
I'm going to have a very early #JukeboxFridayNight - it is basically night here anyway, it's still dark out - because a song came to mind immediately for the #DeathsAndDoorways topic. And I have to put it out there because it's such a great tune; I will absolutely insist that this is forever the best Hallowe'en track of all.
A bit of classic Holland-Dozier-Holland for the dark nights. This is R. Dean Taylor with There's A Ghost In My House.
"I stare death in the face
I take hold of its bony fingers
I hold death in embrace for to accept death
That is to be free of fear
And we can fill the gap with love
And time just seems to disappear"
Some deaths are sad for those left behind but accepted as the natural course of sickness or old age. Others like The Death of Emmett Till (by Bob Dylan) were tragedies.
