Early this year I posted a link to the 'Emails' video by Memphis' Tennessee's BLUFF CITY VICE but I never linked to their new full BANGER of an album that came out in January.
I listen to this constantly. It'll definitely be in my top 20 favorite albums of 2024 -- and somewhere near the top of the list. These dudes make LEGIT electro-punk. This is some of my favorite kind of stuff (and the kind of stuff I write and make myself, actually).
Hey, look what i found while digging through a pile of rusty tech artifacts at my local anachronism dump! It's what primitive 20th century people used to call a mixtape. Through careful analysis of the magnetic patterns encoded into the layer of ferric oxide on the tape surface, i was able to reconstruct the audio it contains. It's kinda noisy but the music is actually not too bad, i think. But then again, what the fuck do i know about this kind of ancient music anyway...
Good news! I finally got my shit together and stopped procrastinating blog stuff so in an uncharacteristic fit of diligence i eventually got around to posting another mixtape that's actually been languishing around here for like two weeks.
Two tracks of absolutely raw and primal #ElectroPunk. Urgent, anxious and angry by turns, with an ultra minimal instrumental approach and stark emotional vulnerability. The bare bones production might turn some off, but it’s hard to imagine these songs having the same immediacy in a more polished setting.
Haven’t heard it in ages but Fuck the Pain Away just came on and it’s such a banger. Love #Peaches &, now that I think about it, a lot of the electro(clash) of that era. Mind you, maybe now isn’t quite the time to be talking about how great the noughties were… #Electroclash#electronicmusic#ElectroPunk
