32 years ago today on May 5 1992, one of the greatest games of all time (and forever my favorite first person shooter), Wolfenstein 3D, was released. I wrote about it for the list of 20 video games I can't stop thinking about (https://spacetimetech.wordpress.com/2024/04/06/20-video-games-i-cant-stop-thinking-about). I still play it regularly. Sometimes weekly. Killing digital Nazis is always fun and therapeutic.

You can play Wolfenstein 3D FREE in browser here: https://dosgames.com/game/wolfenstein-3d) and you can also download it free and run it on your own machine via DOSBox. Wolf 3D is also on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2270/Wolfenstein_3D) for a few bucks, and on the Microstore store (the port of the 360 version). Now if they'd only port it to Switch! 😂

Making some tweaks to fire/spore interaction so this works now

An adventurer in a cave throws a torch at a mushroom, lighting up the spores and creating an expanding fireball. Chunky pixel art style.

Wish I could replace twitter with Mastodon.

  • Can link stuff without the algo hiding my posts.
  • Don't have to chase the algo!
  • My posts aren't locked to signed-in users only.
  • No region-lock for my posts.
  • Feed is not yet another algorithm curating what I see.
  • No premium priority!
  • I don't have to post constantly just to appease the algo.
  • Dedicated communities are cool
  • Edit: I can edit!

My posts on twitter are barely getting noticed anymore and my impressions stagnated.

Today I learned that when you move countries, you cannot access any videos you purchased through Amazon anymore. It’s like you were expropriated.

It seems my dilemma is this: I have 1,500 Kindle ebooks in the USA region, and a few dozen Prime videos in the Germany region. To keep my books, I’ll need to keep my USA region (which always worked). To get access to my videos, I’d need to switch to Germany, even though I live in—Spain.

Sure, just keep the library, but what a mess.

Gestern hab ich angefangen und genäht … 3 Stunden und einige Flüche später ist es getan: Type O Negative Backpatch sitzt!

Ich werde das Teil auf dem Motorrad über der Lederjacke tragen und mag die Vorstellung, dass es für die meisten Verkehrsteilnehmer eher als „Durchfahrt verboten“-Schild gelesen und aufs Motorradfahren bezogen werden dürfte 😄

@jake4480 I liked your new post. About six months ago I read my first Conan story and fell in love. I love how every story is stand alone and they are quick fun reads. I’m a few issues behind but the new comic series from Titan is also pretty damn good.

@brandonwrites awesome- thank you! It's a redux of an old post, updated everything, images and links. And you are so right about all that. Bite sized. Just ELECTRIC writing. I love those new comics too! Gotta get more. There's a great comic store downtown Phoenix that's pretty far from me (luckily for my wallet) - I went about a year ago and the first pic here is my haul. Very dangerous, there was a TON more. And I've had the book in the 2nd pic for years - one of my top prized possessions. Has ALL Howard's Conan stories, I highly recommend 😍

@brandonwrites for the comics, the older Savage Sword ones, the ones in the numbers of the 40s are especially good.

As for the more modern comics, I kinda go by cover, I was loving the cover art on the ones I grabbed 🤣 I started reading the Song of Belit graphic novel collection from Dark Horse and it's pretty cool. It's really newer (collects #19-25 of the Dark Horse series from 2013-2015).

That said though, Savage Sword are almost always good, and the Marvel ones too- the new Marvel ones (Rob De La Torre art) are STELLAR- that last pic in the blog post is from one of the newer books (not De La Torre art though - he does a lot of the inside art and they have rotating artists on many of the covers).

De La Torre is a MASTER-- one of my faves to ever draw Conan after my other faves (John Buscema, Ernie Chan, Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Earl Norem, Bernie Wrightson)

@LifeToldByStacey it has a cool look! Watched wifey go through it when it came out.. She tried not to rush through it, tried to 100%, came close-ish but we let my son play and it gets TOUGH hahaha. She liked that new Peach game too- another really cool looking one. They're not always my thing but I love how much they dig em 😀

I was trying to pin it down so I could check I was using it properly, but not finding reference to it anywhere.
