#FCPX 10.7.1 won't let me link to externally created proxies (by Blackmagic Proxy Generator).
It links, no error messages, BUT there's still only the Original under Media Representation.
What is super bizarre is when you do Reveal Proxy, it DOES reveal the correct proxy file, BUT when you unmount the drive with the originals and switch to Proxy Only, it will be offline.
any way to import folders as Events? One Finder folder=One FCPX Event with matching names?
It would be tremendously useful to me. One day of shooting = one event. As is, I have to manually create an event and copypaste filename, which is time consuming and annoying
#FCPX peeps, I made a mistake - I have multicam synced and labeled 55 days worth of footage and only then realized I didn't apply LUTs to the underlying log footage.
I won't be doing the grading but I'd still like to edit a nice image - how can I apply LUTs to the multicam clips? I know I can add it as an effect on the timeline, but I'd love to have the LUTs already on the sources.
It's synced by Sync&Link so the original clips are not visible in the library.
#FCPX sucks with batch exports. If I, say, want to export all timelines from a project without music, I have to manually disable the Music role in each of these (I checked - the export window even tells you to do so, even for Master). That gets very tedious.
With Chris Hocking's incredible and completely free #CommandPost#FCPX companion app, you can set up custom keyboard shortcuts for oft-used presets, transitions, plugins, titles or whatever.
It cuts repetetive work on our shows by hours and days. It adds up very quickly.
Also make sure to look up his Marker Toolbox for intelligent conversion of (even sloppily) time-coded e-mail notes into markers on timeline.
The built-in #FCPX is utter trash except some pretty specific use cases. It usually dances around like crazy, the only mode that gives me usable results is Point Cloud (the tool always defaults to Automatic, great!). What it does rather well is tracking faces.
Right now it tracks just a couple of frames of the clip for no discernible reason (no ranges set).
This dialogue needs "Replace and inherit attributes" (or, "Replace source but keep attributes"). I need that all the fucking time, when you already have applied effects, transforms and other stuff to a clip but need to swap the source clip.
I have sent that enhancement request to Apple a couple of times and just did again.
#FCPX peeps, is there something (probably a generator) that would put a nice, possibly animated frame around images that I put on the timeline? And keep the correct aspect ratio without stretching?
A very welcome small change in #FCPX that @latenite will tell me was there all along :))
When you select a keyword in the Browser and add a clip from it to the timeline, when you then matchframe back to it, it will not switch the Browser view to the topmost level (the entire event) but it stays in the keyword. It was extremely annoying to me when it did that.
I'm not sure if this is new in 10.7, I've only noticed this now.
What the actual fuck is this? The repeated glitch sound is NOT in the file itself. #FCPX 10.7. No effect applied. Plain WAV.
Edit: apparently QuickLook doesn't play all audio tracks, so it didn't present this issue. The problem actually IS in the recording, probably failing batteries in a wireless mic.
Leaving this here as this might be a valuable information for someone.
Avid Media Composer is STILL not Apple Silicon native, three years in
I'm a #FCPX evangelist but I do like actual editing with Avid and I do see its strengths re: interoperability, and this is just silly. Avid as a platform wastes an enormous amount of its users' time.
Also Titler+ is still a thing. An atrocity that causes crashes and hangs.
I'm looking for a #Motion or #FCPX generator that would create sort of Plexus-like lines, neuron-like structures ideally with light pulses, paid or free.
Any ideas? I haven't found anything like that for Motion. I need to use it on a lot of shots in a FCPX project and have it somewhat controllable from FCPX, otherwise I'd just do it myself in After Effects and render as video.
