So, since we all have to turn on subtitles now anyway... they should be artistic!

The best I've ever seen are on the DVD of Night Watch. You should check them out if you get a chance.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/

To that end... subtitles can support a variety of CSS effects. What is needed is a editor that provides some facilities of design for text. Does it exist?!

This would NOT get you to the level of Night Watch but better than current levels.

Be careful, the sound is too simple. It starts very quietly and slowly gets louder and more annoying.

Luminous traces in blue and yellow-orange tones.

Despite not having a lot of time for games programming these days, I’ve been a long-time follower of @godotengine and @gdquest in particular, who make awesome content about the engine.

They’ve just released a new video outlining why Godot might be the engine you’d want to choose if you’re embarking on a new project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS9cuu5o5Ug

I especially enjoyed the in it, they’ve come so far! 😊

"Trip to Infinity" is a documentary about... well... infinity. It relies heavily on created by artists and studios from across the world. I've tried to look up everybody who's mentioned in the credits but unfortunately, not all of them present their work online.

Here's a small thread of the clips that can be found on vimeo for example. But let's start with a nice article about how the documentary came to be:

👋🏼 HNY! Thought I'd do a quick now I've moved to mastodon.social.

I’m Guy, an independent designer making websites, apps, motion graphics + that sort of thing. I consult with organisations small + large on their digital products, branding, motion graphics and more.

I share my projects at https://www.futurefabric.co and send a monthly-ish newsletter packed full of interesting links for creative folks @convergenewsletter

I'm looking for a or generator that would create sort of Plexus-like lines, neuron-like structures ideally with light pulses, paid or free.

Any ideas? I haven't found anything like that for Motion. I need to use it on a lot of shots in a FCPX project and have it somewhat controllable from FCPX, otherwise I'd just do it myself in After Effects and render as video.

Thanks for any tips!

Hey Fediverse, I'm looking for an alternative to Adobe After Effects (Windows), specifically for 2D animation and vector-based motion graphics. Anything you can recommend?

(It doesn't have to be free; just no subscription model, please.)

Been tinkering on this for a while now, should probably make it official... Introducing Friction, a fast and flexible 2D motion graphics application for Linux and Windows.

Late night mograph. This took a bunch of compression to get down to posting size. Pretty happy with the results overall.

I had a minor freakout, because at one point, the animation wasn't lining up anymore, and it turns out I'd changed a setting on the wrong node cuz it's late and I'm punchy.

Tiny spheres spin in a swarm, and come together to form a five, which glows. Then they expand back out, and form a 4, then a 3, then a 2, then a 1. Then it loops, because I had no exit strategy.

Does anyone know of any communities or online spaces where freelancers can share advice about their craft and support one another? I'm planning on switching from full-time employment to freelance (in motion graphics) and I am interested in making connections with other freelancers in this field, mainly so it feels a bit less daunting and lonely!

Boosts appreciated!
