Here’s some fun news from the unexpected #GameAccessibility story department: For those who don't know, there's a ton of very little and cheep handheld emulation consoles you can get from China, which run their own linux-based OS which is just a UI for a bunch of emulators. Well, someone got in touch with a developer of this software and apparently pretty soon if you want to make one of these speak the menus, it’ll soon be possible to load a version of this software that does. https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/49754/why-we-should-applaud-small-devs-and-the-open-source-community/
It’s indeed very sad to learn there are accessibility features missing that are standard in other games (like button remapping) in a 2023 blockbuster game. Nintendo, we expect better! #Zelda#GameUX#GameAccessibility
@objectinspace This is all well and good, only thing that appears to be missing is narration. And this is the first major game release after the breaking up of the #gameAccessibility community and the major accessibility comunity at large (Thanks, SpaceKaren) and with Summerfall not on the #fediverse a live, open discussion is no longer nearly as possible. I say GAConf or similar ought to start a Game Accessibility fedi instance.
As if you didn’t have enough to get hyped for in #GameAccessibility this year, this teaser was just posted to the audiogames forum. If you recognize where the music comes from you’ll know why this will be a big deal. https://vocaroo.com/19oBGaTVgpiO
