Welcome to my tiny corner of the internet! I'm an accessibility specialist for WhatsApp, which is about the least exciting thing about me. I also play video games--while blind! I hosted a politics podcast with Matt Cooper called The Game Is Rigged from 2017-2018. I've produced and acted in the Worm full-cast Audiobook project. I host a weekly show called Thoughtfood on Venom.FM from 12 to 3 PM PST on Sundays. I also sing and play drums. I'm even a snappy dresser--though this is disputed!

I wholeheartedly disagree with Rowlings political view and her movement against trans people, but I absolutely love the book series that is Harry Potter. Thus i'm really looking forward to the project and will enjoy listening to those audio dramas as soon as they get released. VOLlama v0.1.0, an open-source, accessible chat client for OLlama
Unfortunately, many user interfaces for open source large language models are either inaccessible or annoying to use with screen readers, so I decided to make one for myself and others. Non screen reder users are welcome to use it as well.
I hope that ML UI libraries like Streamlit and Gradio will become more friendly with screen readers in the future, so making apps like this is not necessary!

With the greatest respect, how you present yourself on here is totally up to you, but if you're going to put long, complicated emojis on either side of your display name your posts are going to take a long time to read with a screenreader, it's just easier to skip. I want to read your thoughts, or anything else you post, not have to spend thirty seconds reading your name. Just a thought.

@lulu_bear Some fediverse clients have an option to remove emojis from user names. Enafore does, for instance. Might be worth checking. If not, consider bugging whoever maintains the apps that you use.

This avenue might be more successful than shaming people into changing their cultural norms to fit yours.

In the past 3 weeks, the admin has extended overtime pay for 4 mil workers, moved to cancel student debt for 25 mil borrowers, banned non-competes, banned drilling on 13 mil acres of AK wilderness, forced airlines to give refunds for delayed/ canceled flights and restored net neutrality.

Doesn't matter given that nobody knows this, popularism is BS, there's no liberal equivalent of Fox, the legacy media is relentlessly hostile and Biden's the elderly PM of Israel.

Trying the preview of Tiflotecnia's new Vocaliser NVDA add-on. They're so responsive although I wouldn't use it all the time as I'm not a huge fan of the voices.
For some reason, they have the Fiona one under English (Seychelles), rather than English (Scotland).
There seems to be duplicate versions of voices at the same quality level for some reason.
I'd also like to see a voice preview button.

@KaraLG84 It suffers from the same flaw all of these "modern" sample-based TTS's do which that it reads a sentence that ends with a period, a question mark, or an exclamation point all the same way. I'll grab the addon just to have it but it's not gonna be my daily driver.

@nolan I like them! There's definitely some stuff I would like that they do not do, like describing people for instance. Most of the descriptions are fairly terse, but it does support follow-ups so you can usually get the information you want. E.G "What am I looking at?" "You are looking at what appears to be a parking lot, with trees and rows of cars." "What kinds of cars are they?" "They appear to be mostly Minivans, with some Christler's and Toyota's." And $300 beats the hell out of Envision!

@nolan I'm not sure what you mean by speech to text. You ask it voice commands and it answers you in voice, though I believe it also saves a history of your AI interactions in the app so you can look at them later. I haven't needed to do that though.

The sound quality is okay, I like it better than the Bose Frames I used to have, but it is not a replacement for headphones. It is good enough that you might not care just walking around though.
