The 1952 film adaptation of Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe was the inspiration for King Graham's blue cap in #Sierra's #KingsQuest series, and might have been an influence on the design of Fleece in #LucasArts' #LOOM as well. #adventuregames

In Return to Monkey Island, right at the beginning, you get to see a tiny cute little owl - this in my eyes is a Sierra reference to Cedric the Owl from King's Quest

@sayomgwtf 's 1995 Windows 3.1 Take A Break! Pinball game had a V board, which included a couple of EGA closeups I suspect might have been based on scanned VGA art cut from the game itself.

In particular there's a picture of Cedric after falling out of the tree in the KQ5 intro, as well as a close-up of the witch in the Dark Forest.

It's possible this was based on a full-screen closeup of the witch that was cut from the published version of KQ5, since other minor characters like Queen Icebella and the harpies got full-screen closeups as well.

Seeing this screenshot from the early Sierra game "Cranston Manor" definitely looks like it was the basis for another set of circular stairs in Dracula's castle in King's Quest 2.

@edenwaith I've always wondered if there was maybe an idea at one point to have Dracula's castle in KQ2 be home to the giant from KQ1 instead, like how the dwarf and the sorcerer from the first game are also reused. It might explain the oddly large scale of the furniture in the rooms. Or maybe it was just an art error - I honestly don't know.

Also, there's an early version of the dining room background art on the inside flap of the KQ2 "gray box" release.

No copyprotection, no problem! In the AGI version of King's Quest IV you just have to type in ALT + D and then type some magic words.

This game runs on the DosBox.

Just tried the AGI version of King's Quest IV on ScummVM. It's interesting that the displayed text at 0:02 shows additional ScummVM information to the version number.

Fun fact: in V, whether by coincidence or not, the people Graham meets in Serenia's town all correspond to alternate versions of Graham from licensed novels, the King's Quest Companion guidebook, and early manual art.

I remember King's Quest 1 was my very first Sierra text adventure. Back in 2001, I didn't understand a single word English so this and the other Sierra games helped me a lot to learn my first English vocabulary.

Do you think text adventures can be edutainment for kids too?
