All the big name Greens were in #KitCen tonight: our MP Mike Morrice, federal leader Elizabeth May, federal deputy leader Jonathan Pedneault, provincial leader and neighbouring #Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner, provincial deputy leader and hopefully soon our MPP Aislinn Clancy.
I resist too closely tying myself to partisan politics, but I really like the way the Greens operate.
The staggering number of the night for me: Mike Morrice said when he won in a very impressive grassroots campaign he had 800 lawn signs up. Aislinn Clancy has 2100 so far, with 11 days to go in a byelection which usually means much lower turnout. #KitCen#OnPoli
I'm done my day in #Kitchener knocking on doors for Aislinn Clancy, so now I'm home, watching the debate between the three candidates who showed up at Rogers TV (the PC candidate did not show his face, surprise, surprise)
I'm annoyed, as always, that the debate host said "There are four candidates in the race..."
There are eighteen candidates in the race! This is where democracy dies, when the media does not respect the electoral process and does not invite all candidates to an "All-Candidate Debate".
Looks like voters in Kitchener Centre have an opportunity on November 30 to vote in a byelection and let Doug Ford know exactly what they think of his dumpster fire of a government. Everyone in Ontario deserves better.
Candidates for smaller parties are declaring their candidacy and registering for the Kitchener Centre byelection. I expect there will be a small deluge just before nominations close on 16 November.
There are now 14 registered candidates for the #Kitchener Centre provincial byelection, plus one who's declared but is as yet unregistered. There may be a few more registrations before Wednesday, when registrations close.
I love that not only have we already been visited twice by the team for the Green MPP candidate for the byelection that hasn't even been officially called yet, but they ask us our priorities and take notes. And they're clearly trained, too, not rushing my introverted brain trying to switch gears suddenly from painting. Our Green MP had a successful similar listening-first campaign.
NDP dropped by once but they just left a pamphlet and left quickly.
