I have only fostered for a little more than a year but I feel every emotion this lady feels. The emotional toll is quite a lot. One of my cats escaped and while he's a street-wise cat I still worry about him. I hope he's having a good life out there.
Apparently #KookyCat has abandoned my neighbour's home for another family down the road lol. Lara reported that her son saw Kooky happily enjoying a meal at the new home. What a player! 🐱
Fyi he was a stray I sorta rescued. (Read the #KookyCat posts to get the story.) He was having a full blown cold and I basically kidnapped him, sent him to a vet and healed him up.
Now he shares a home with me and my neighbor. But try as we might, we couldnt make him an inside house cat. He likes wandering and that seems to make him happy.
My neighbour Lara, who is taking care of Kooky now, sent me this pic. What a life he has! And he is such a massive snugglebug. How do you resist this guy?
Thanks to Kooky's wandering ways he came back sick, so we are testing him for parvo and all manner of viruses. Currently waiting for his Parvo results. May it be ok results. He is now having his blood drawn
Kooky being confused when praised for something he does naturally.
But honestly, it's a miracle that a street cat would do this on a scratching board vs a sofa! I once had a foster cat that dod his scratching on my bicycle tyres 🙃
Not that Kooky didn't give my sofa a scratch lol. But he seems to prefer the board, thank God.
Look at this spoiled fellow. He's already hankering to go out despite being saved from a terrible fate, lost out there in a world full of cars. Tut tut
You are lucky you are so cute Kooky 😆
This guy is such a player. He refused to be an indoor cat, so one day he escaped. My neighbor and I felt that we shouldn't imprison Kooky against his will, so we watched him trot off, tail high with happiness.
Today, I found him waiting at a lane near my apartment, scruffy and happy. Got him some food, of course. I am sure he will enjoy the comforts of my home and then trot off to another adventure soon.
My timeline is flooded with #Caturday photos and that is how it should be. Here is my #cat contribution -#KookyCat watching Billie the talking cat on TV and probably thinking that she has sold out.
Good news! My neighbor downstairs, whom Kooky visits often, has taken him in. As she is on the ground floor, and has cat-proofed her apartment, Kooky is much safer there. And to be honest, I think he's much happier there too!
Lara (my neighbor) even puts on a lullaby for him to help him sleep.
Not that it stops him from complaining to get out 😆I will still be in his life and will share responsibilities for him. I am so glad that Kooky is happy downstairs, able to look at birds from the cat proofed balcony like it should be!
Kooky longs for the outside. So much so that he makes hell at night, jumping, yowling, pestering me to open the door, any door. Unfortunately I live on a high floor with TWO balconies, and seeing how he perches himself at suicidal angles on the balcony, I had to close all doors which makes both of us miserable 😅
Having spent most of his life as an outside cat, Kooky is not going to transition to being an indoor cat. Tough decisions have to made.
Kooky takes to the leash like a pro. He spent the whole day yesterday yowling to be let out, so I took him out for a walk and a visit to my neighbor downstairs whom he also visits and adores. TBH I feel guilty keeping him inside, because he obviously loves the outdoors and on top of that there's no one at home most of the time.
I wish there was a way to give him his outdoor life and keep him safe as well. 😐 #cat#cats#CatsOfMastodon#Catstodon#KookyCat
I like that the vets think that my guest/foster cat's name is Cookie, when I've actually named him Kooky (full name Kooky Cutter), because that feline is topsy turvy, I tell you!
Kooky enjoying the view. Yes I have named the rescue and you know this is the start of the slippery slope.
We have gone to the vet btw. He has a mild cold, and vet estimates that he's about 8 years old. Kooky was absolutely not pleased about the whole thing.
I have named my #cat guest Koky. He is also a regular visitor to my neighbor downstairs so we agreed that he will stay with her during my very frequent sojourns out of the apartment. I think he is a stray after all - he is VERY food motivated. But also very intelligent. I taught him how to sit 😆
His cold seems to be going away and his minor injuries from a recent fight healing. I think a safe, warm bed during these rainy days helped.
Just realized it is #Caturday ! I am sheltering this little #cat until he gets over his cold. He is not neutered so alas I may send him for the ✂️
He likes being brushed by a toothbrush.
And he responds to the name Cookie Cutter so there's that.
So, need your advice #CatsofMastodon people! This beautiful boy has been randomly visiting me a few times a month. He is not neutered but not feral. I see that he may have gotten into a fight recently and am wondering if I should bring him to a vet or at least get him neutered. But I feel like he loves his freedom. (He usually leaves after having his meal.) What do I do?
