What's the cheapest US cellular service for an Apple Watch (gps/cellular version)? Asking for an elderly relative.

Do any prepaid services support it? I just confirmed ATT prepaid does not

Negative User Experience on "Chat with us".

Previously had hours wasted by Optus chat workers.
Not going down that path again.

Start chat.

Put in details and specific request.

Optus tells me a operator is reviewing my message to get an understanding of what I'm wanting.

Operator comes on line, asks for details.

I say "Already entered".

Operator posts that they're reviewing my message to get an understanding of what I'm wanting.

Looking to an number.

Seems Optus has with the price for 365 day expiry nearly doubling.

And this with a company that has a poor record for whole of network reliability.

I get a lot of people calling out my skepticism (as in: Bitcoin is a worthless piece of hot garbage trying to kill our planet) because number is again going up. This time it's real, now that the scamers have been caught and all.

But if you want to know why Bitcoin goes up you just need to look at one curve: Tether has printed 4 billion USD from thin air in the last week.

While it's great to see the crypto scam artists SBF and CZ been caught and punished (sadly without making their victims whole) the actual rock that whole scam economy is built on is Tether. Has been Tether for years.

And I really don't get why US regulators let some weird company print fake USD.

@tante It's also the same reason why the doesn't go after vouchers and why exist:

Those are locked-in, / solutions and both PSC as well as do comply with , & regulations...

In fact, Tether and 's "" does have functions specifically to comply with listings and and do enforce them against i.e. :

@quincy @thomasjorgensen @lobingera @glynmoody Yeah, tho I do see this as a way to shoehorn more retroactively into stuff...

Just like with + banning cards basically making a mandatory in under the dalse claim to do "roadside assistance and distress calls" when other options would've offered the same at far less cost, better privacy and better coverage...

@kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

@kravietz @quincy @KatS @thomasjorgensen @ErikJonker @glynmoody not really...

I do expect people to be first incentivized than nudged than forced to use it.

Kinda like with |s in :

  1. you get them easily.
  2. If you ID yourself you'll be able to auto top-up and wire-transfer onto those.
  3. If you want to transfer your old phone number you gotta have to ID.
  4. It's illegal (since 07/2017) to offer anonymous Prepaid SIM cards - period.

Let me encounter a beer vending machine in USA, much less an ice cream one or a ramen one (I mean a ramen one that doesn't just serve Maruchan or Nissin Cup Noodle instant noodles dry)

@yakkoj yeah...

What I'd love to see are more just selling basic essentials like a , -C cables, Top-Up vouchers for cards and potentially !
