Quick blog post on the support and displaying of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! host, panelist and scorekeeper preferred pronouns on their details page.

I've only added ones that have been published on their respective socials. If they do not provide their preferred pronouns, I won't be entering any details into the database.

If you ever wondered the difference between notes taking during a live taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and notes taken while listening to the edited version? Here are the notes for the edited and the live version respectively.

Written notes with panelist and segment information for the Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! that taped on May 23, 2024 in Seattle, Washington.

I now have 11 Field Notes memo books full of notes and scores that I've written down for each of the weekly Wait Wait Don't Tell Me shows aired.

That's another memo book filled out with notes for each week's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I'll be starting a new one next week.

The new location map feature for the Wait Wait Stats Page has been deployed to production. I have also published a development update blog post with other things that I'm working on.

Been working on incorporating a feature for the Wait Wait Stats Page that was requested about 2 years ago: adding a map showing the location of the venue when viewing the location details page.

While the addition of the feature was simple, getting the coordinates for all of the venues is what took the longest for me to get around to collecting and entering. Also, I needed to extend the backing library to return that data.

I'm using Leaflet for the map functionality.

After taking a bit of a break from listening through the first two years of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! (which I finished listening through all of the 1998 shows I have audio for), I finished listening through (and entering data for) January and February 1999 this weekend.

While I won't be able to match that pace going forward, I'm still going to aim for listening to and entering data at least 2 shows a week going forward.

I also fixed a little bug in the Stats Library where sorting of panelists based on their scores should have been using their new decimal scores column instead of the integer scores column. Oops.

On Christmas, I published new versions of the Wait Wait Stats Library, Stats API, and Stats Page to add support for multiple Bluff the Listener-like segments that were common during the show's first year.

I've published a blog post with additional details on the changes and links to each project's release notes.

After a couple of months of not listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me shows from 1998-1999, I have listened to and entered in data for the last two shows of September 1998.

Will hopefully have October and maybe some of November done in the next week or so.

With the relevation that panelists can have non-integer scores at the start of the Lightning Fill-in-the-Blank segment from shows back in 1998, I had to update the Stats library and family of applications. I've provided some details and links to the new versions in a new blog post.

I thought that they would move past the whole half-point nonsense when they wrapped up the shows with Lightning Fill-in-the-Blank... but, no!

I don't know whether or laugh or cry at this point.

I have finished listening to almost every episode of from January 1998 through the end of July 1998. I'm still missing the audio file for May 23, 1998 and hope to get it from the archives in the coming weeks.

It's interesting to see how they tweak the format of each show and some of the segments, including when segments like Not My Job and Lightning Fill-in-the-Blank make their debuts.

If you would like to browse through the shows, notes and other tidbits that I've collected, they are now available at: https://stats.wwdt.me/shows/1998/

I have taken and uploaded photos of notes I've written down for each show that I've listened to on Flickr. The first photo from the 1998 shows starts at: https://flickr.com/photos/questionlp/53112167140/in/album-72157718939162790/

Just got the first time there was a three-way tie at the end of a , the show that aired on May 16, 1998.

Roxanne Roberts, Charlie Pierce and Adam Felber each finished the game with 6 points.

I've published a fix for a regression in one of the routes for a view in the Graphs site due to a silly mistake.

The new versions of the Stats Page, API, Graphs and Reports sites have been published and migrated to a new server.

The new versions add support for non-integer panelist scores across the board.

As part of the sweeping updates that I'm making to the sites, I am also migrating the site from one cloud provider to another.

In doing so, it's nice to have a server named in honor of Carl Kasell again.

I have published a new blog post that provides an overview of the changes to the projects that I have been working on to support decimal (non-integer) panelist scores.

While the code has been published for the Stats library, API, Graphs, Reports and Stats applications, I have not published the new versions to production yet. I hope to do so in the coming week.

I'm happy to say that I've been able to put in a bit of work on extending the apps to support panelist decimal scores. Right now, the changes have been committed and merged into the development branches of the wwdtm library, Wait Wait Stats Page, Wait Wait Stats API and Wait Wait Reports web apps.

Thankfully, I had scripts that allowed me to find issues as I worked on all of the changes.

I'm not ready for the changes to go live yet and still have to update the Wait Wait Stats Graphs web app.

Hopefully I can get everything up and running next week on the production server.

So I hear that early episodes like having non-integer points for panelists scores. Well, I'm just starting to work on supporting non-integer scores in the database and applications. It'll probably be a little while before it's ready for production.

I'm so glad that half-points are no longer a thing on

Well, now I have to deal with half points for panelist scores for the database and applications ☠️
